not everybody listens to music, but for those who do, everybody's tastes are different, curiously so.

the last few days i've been struck by two pieces of music that i cannot get out of my head. i drive a truck for 10 or 12 hours a day, can't get out, can't stop, can't do anything else. so the stuff i think about has a long time to work.

i don't see how these two pieces of music could be so different, and yet both have affected me strongly. so this is what i'm listening to, at the moment. what about you?

"Kill surf city" by Jesus and Mary Chain

now back to the shop.

Friend here whose father was a trucker in the sixties and 70s- when he came across small town bars and cafes who were getting rid of their juke boxes, he'd buy their boxes of 45s.
Kid has thousands of C&W records 1945- 1070.
Everything from Hank Williams to the Buckarrooos.
He makes me cds of what I want...

The guy I was working with today was listening to Wide Spread Panic. Pretty good and also Bob Weir .... He had a Greatful dead Tattoo as well so I guess it was to be expected. I did just pick up some vinyl at a thrift store any been playing those all week before I go to bed. Joe Cocker and CCR , Bessie Smith and Cream, Crosby Still and Nash plus many others all for a dollar a piece. They play pretty good too. Best score on used records I think I've ever had.

My taste in purely instrumental music leans toward King Crimson, Brian Eno, Miles Davis, Jeff Beck, and the occasional Bach organ toccata.
Last night was John Mayall and Peter Gabriel.

Jazzy blues, bluesy Jazz, Rocky blues, bluesy rock Jazzy rock, that kind of thing. Bach& Mozart. Every riff ever done by anyone was already done by Bach 300+ years ago. It's true.

Cheers,
Bill

On the bike?

WGLT jazz feed off my cell phone, bluetoothed to my Sena 10c, piped into my ears via Etymotic mk5 isolator earbuds. Keeps me focused on The Zen of the ride.

http://wglt.org/audio-streams

The Etymotics make it possible - ~ 30db of passive noise cancellation. High quality sound at a reasonable price. There is a rubber cord wrapper to keep the wires in check.

Saw Jeff Beck when he was in town a while back with Clapton, he blew Clapton away. His rendition of A day in the life was amazing.

Driving truck in the NYC and Philadelphia, broadcasting area,33 years now, there are many good, member supported stations, on the FM dial with all kinds of stuff. Most stream online or have app's.Here are my favorites.I regularly support one and periodically the others.
WXPN University of Pennsylvania<www.xpn.org>I particularly enjoy the Sleepy Hollow program,a quiet eclectic weekend morning mix,(archived) as well as Star's End('Space',electronica,(great in the dark with your coffee/wine/woman, or combination thereof). The Blue's Show,The Many Moods of Ben Vaughn, and Echoes.
WBGO Newark,NJ<www.wbgo.org> Jazz/Blues
WPRB Princeton University <www.wprb.com> Classical,Jazz, and Eclectic
WKCR Columbia University <https://www.cc-seas.columbia.edu/wkcr/> Jazz,Classical.
I got a AM transistor radio for Xmas 1967 from my grandfather, a Sinclair Oil promo, lovely, in red plastic, with the green brontosaurus."Light My Fire" is etched in my head, among many others of the era.
Been a radio person ever since."Blow up your TV"-John Prine
Music in my head today,

Neil Young, and others previously mentioned, at any given moment.
The soapbox is collapsing.See ya.

Wade, thank you! You reminded me to reset the timer on my Cub tractor's block heater (a 100 watt light bulb under the oil pan). Snow is on the way soon.

At work I can't stop listening to Psychedelicized Radio internet radio.
