Bartees Strange has come up on my radar thanks to a good friend of mine. Check this guy out, he's pretty great. One thing about going to concerts these days is that the crowd, whatever the show is, know s all the word to whatever is being. played before the show and between sets- whether it's rock, country, hip hop, R&B, rap, everybody knows everything. Bartees Strange emulates this wide openness- his music comes at you from many angles, often all at once.
...hi Ricochet; as you know I am more into the parallel World of music than the mainstream: also I prefer the music; sound and concepts than the lyrics based songs but this artist seems good; specially "mustang"where music and lyrics are working together to have a high quality level of song. Thank you
NIce, Bill. As it happens, we have been watching The Queen's Gambit on Netflix (which is pretty great BTW). The latest episode ended with this song which I had totally forgotten about. His phrasing is just stunning here, Not to detract at all from this woman's talent at all, but...

A powerful bit of business... soul-wrenching, really.

for years i've spent all my disposable income on motorcycles. i have some decent machines to show for it and some forever projects that are going to go to my kids with a note about what they need to do . . .
but i've been listening to this guy for two days
there are a variety of pan artists around, some good, some okay. this sam maher guy transcends everybody else i've been listening to for sheer talent and breadth. pans are expensive-- an original hang is worth US $7000 these days, if you can find one. but a quality instrument can be obtained for around US$1500, and starter-student stuff for a few hundred dollars.
